Use ethnography and in-person interview methods to gather insights on how the qualitative and quantitative project managers create recruit participants for market research studies.
During the discovery process, we defined two personas that recruit participants for research studies: quantitative and qualitative project managers. Both project managers share the same tasks at the beginning of the project: invite participants based on a target audience and monitor their responses. However, project managers finalize projects differently.
"I care about getting as many responses as fast as possible."
The goal of quantitative project managers is to get as many responses as quickly as possible. The company is researching what the majority of their target thinks or does to make informed decisions. Project managers invite qualified participants to complete online surveys and finalize data for data analysts.
"I care about when the qualitative study starts so I can recruit qualified people to participate in the study in time."
The goal of qualitative project managers is to get qualified people to participate in a qualitative study. The company is researching why their target thinks or does to make informed decisions. Project managers recruit qualified participants and verify their answers before inviting them to the qualitative study. They work with the study facilitator to schedule participants.
Working with product managers, developers, and stakeholders, we ideate solutions to project managers’ problems. The group sketched on a whiteboard together and presented ideas to users for instant feedback.
After receiving user feedback from the whiteboard sessions, I created static prototypes using Invision to initiate user and stakeholder feedback. Each focus group session included a demo of the latest designs and a feedback session.
The key to managing projects is to see useful data when you need it. Displaying graphs and tables when users make decisions helps users complete tasks efficiently and increases desirability.
Creating rapid static prototypes, I was able to meet with users daily to review the next round of designs. The process was iterative and collaborative with a solution that met the business and user needs, defined the MVP, and decreased the product requirements timeline.
I love discussing interesting ideas, new collaborations, or your next marathon (running or watching).
